In 1913 Redstone was moved for the third time to its present location, and by 1917 it had prospered until it had 37 businesses.  Some of these businesses included an opera house, Chinaman Tim’s Café, two liveries, a rooming house, two saloons and a pool hall, a newspaper (Redstone Review), a bank, two lumber yards, a general store, a hotel, barber shop, motor sales selling Ford, Overland and Buick, and many more.  Industry in Redstone was underground coal mining furnishing employment to many miners in the area.

However, the faint hearted and opportunists started leaving and the drought and other conditions forced others to leave.  At the present time, the only businesses are Nash Brothers Garage, the Post Office and Redstone Grain.  The old Westland Oil Station building had a “face lift” for Redstone’s Diamond Jubilee 2 – day celebration in 1989, and can be seen by all traffic going by.  The celebration was enjoyed by over 1000 people who came from far and near.

The Redstone Methodist Church, started in the early 1900’s, is still in use with services every Sunday.  The Post Office has recently been modernized and moved onto Redstone’s Main Street in August 1999.

Redstone has a very scenic nine-hole sand greens golf course four miles north of Redstone which does see a lot of use.  If you have never golfed sand greens, you would find it an interesting and enjoyable experience.  Fees are ridiculously nominal.  To find the course, just ask for directions in Redstone.
