The Outlook Community of the 21st Century may now be only a tiny remnant of what was once the thriving farming and ranching community of the fertile Outlook Bench.  But when you look back, you see that the community of homesteads grew into Outlook, with nearly 3,000 people, a hospital, bank, newspaper, hotels, numerous stores and businesses, and even a “moving picture theatre”.  You begin to formulate that Outlook is rich in tradition and history.
Today, in Outlook, you will not find that same richness in the form of buildings and businesses.  Time and change took care of those leaving their mark on the town; what once was is no longer.  But come up six-mile hill and top off at the first bend and there is what Outlook is today.  You only have to see the fields and the wide open spaces to realize that the changes made on the town over time scarcely touched the vistas that lie before you.
The history of the community is still there in every seed that’s planted each year.  In each stalk of wheat you hear the whispers of the past; the earth itself has spoken.  Whispers tell of the people, the land, and the insects of times long past that remain untold to today’s human ear.
The tradition of community, like its history in the wheat, lies in the hearts of it people, the families that make Outlook what it is today…from yesterday.  One only has to touch a hand to understand what family tradition is: solid, binding legacies that pass down from generation to generation, family roots that never die but spread wide and far, growing with each heart beat of its people.
Although, Outlook has its quaint looks, its two lovely churches, and the Hub – the town “watering hole”, it also boasts a very modern school and post office.  The line of past and present day teachers coming from far and near, give the students a personalized education of the highest caliber.  Proud of their small rural school, the community generously supports the students and the school activities that pull the Outlook families together.  You need attend only one Saturday night game in a packed gym to learn that basketball is the favorite sport of the community; track and baseball coming next.
What the town lacks in feature attractions one can find in the focal point of the heritage that still exists today.  What can’t be seen can be felt.
